Event Details

Computers are becoming more important in chemistry as they are in most other areas. The 3D graphics capabilities of today’s computers are familiar to most people via gaming. But the same type of hardware can be used to visualize proteins and other molecules. Sophisticated programs are available for free download from a number of sources. While some uses require an advanced degree a lot of fun can be had by people of all ages and backgrounds.

Come and meet other people interested in computers and chemistry. This event is geared for all ages, from grade school through parent and professional. Bring your laptop and receive help from experts installing and learning to use different programs. Many types of software will be available for download either from the Internet or from USB flash drives. If you have a USB flash drive bring it along to help share files. Free online databases will also be discussed. Vendors from software companies will give live demos on impressive hardware. We are hoping to spark interest in the formation of clubs that meet regularly to show off new discoveries or share solutions to problems.

For up-to-date agenda and information about presenting vendors see http://www.sandiegoacs.org or http://www.tstockfisch.com/Contact.html.
